Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a foster based, volunteer-run organization which means we do not have a traditional shelter, despite having a Studio location.
DOGS: Our dogs are housed in private foster homes where they live like one of the family until an adoptive home is found. Outside of attending one of our adoption events, where there is no obligation to apply first, we must have an approved application before a meeting can be set up to view or adopt. At events, we do not allow same day adoptions, so the same process is followed for all adoptions.
CATS: Cats are housed in a variety of locations and depending where, you may be able to visit them without the obligation of applying first.
We have an on-site Cat Lounge at our Studio where we host Rock Star Treatment Dog Daycare and Training, in downtown Redmond, WA. This room is open for public visits during weekday business hours only- usually between noon and 6pm. However there may be days where new cats have come and they are too stressed for visitors, they are sick, or we may not have any kitties at all.
Other cats are housed at partnering pet stores such as various All the Best Pet Care and Petco locations as well as Natural Pet Pantry and Crown Hill Pets Supply. These cats can be visited during the store’s regular hours, but for an adoption to occur we need an approved application and an appointment set up with a Motley Zoo Adoption Facilitator.
Lastly, cats may still be in various foster homes throughout the area while they are new to our care, recovering from illness or surgery or may otherwise need private care. Once the cats are ready for adoption, they are moved to either the Cat Lounge or a partnering pet store.
OTHER ANIMALS: We do on occasion take in animals of other species, but this is the exception to the rule, rather than the norm. We have rescued birds, small furry animals and even a cow and a pig!
For all animals, we take pride in stellar service to both pets and people. We put quality above quantity, making all efforts to match the right pet with the right home, to ensure that both you and your new pet will live happy lives together.
- Tell us about you. Let us know about your family, what you’re looking for and any of our current animals available you’re interested in finding out more about or meeting.
- Once we review your application, we’ll follow up with any additional questions or to confirm your approval, and arrange a meeting.
- Upon meeting, we request that all family members- significant others, kids and other dogs (for dog adoptions) be included in the introduction to ensure that everyone has a chance to decide if it’s the right match for one another.
- We all discuss what is the best decision as a result of the meeting- and then we approve the adoption, or continue to work with you to find your best match!
Please keep in mind, we will process all applications in the order received, as quickly as we can- we aim for 3 days turn around time, but this can vary to up to 5 days when we have lots of puppies and kittens, etc. As we are an all volunteer organization, we are working hard! Keep in mind, if there is something we’re struggling with, it’s simply because we don’t have enough volunteers available to do those “somethings”.
We try our best to keep you informed of the latest information, as we’re working through the approvals. We certainly don’t want to keep you- or our pets- waiting…but with all the work we do behind the scenes, sometimes the days are long and time flies!
Please be patient, and understand we are here to serve you and our animals the best we can.
